One for the frog lovers out there!
Arbo is a red-eyed tree frog, Agalychnis
callidryas. These amazingly coloured frogs have sticky pads on their toes which allow them to spend the majority of their
time hanging out on leaves in the rainforests of Central America.
I created Arbo from 6 different colours of ultrasuede
that were carefully handsewn together to accurately represent the markings of a real red-eyed tree frog. He has wire
armature in both his fore and hind limbs for posing and has been stuffed with Bouncifill. He has realistic glass taxidermy
eyes set into specially constructed sockets and Nymo thread highlights his mouth and nostrils. I coated his 'skin' with
a few layers of PVA glue to give it a wet look.
Arbo is able to hang out on his very own special
leaf thanks to the addition of small neodymium magnets in the tips of his toes. His leaf comprises a flexible rubber
sheet covered with China silk on which I have airbrushed a leaf-like veining pattern. The leaf also has a faux suede
loop at the top to allow it to be hung on the wall if wanted and has an Arcas Designs fabric tag sewn in on the rear.
If you'd like Arbo to come and hang out in your
house then he is available to adopt at £140 + P&P. Ordering information can be found here. Thank you for visiting.
