Greetings from Madagascar and Akisa the
Ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta).
Akisa has been made from 3 different colours of gorgeous Schulte mohair
(black, ivory and light tipped dark grey). Her inner ears, palms of the hands and soles of the feet are made
of black ultrasuede. She is filled with polyfill and additional plastic pellets in the tummy for
added weight. Her neck, arms, wrists, legs and ankles are all nut + bolt jointed with hardboard discs. Her tail, arms,
hands (inc. fingers!) and feet (and toes!) are wired for full poseability. Her legs however, are designed in a permanent
bent position so that she can assume the lotus position that these lemurs are so reknown for when sunbathing. She
has beautiful realistic glass taxidermy eyes with polymer clay lids which have been set into the head for a
more natural look. Her embroidered nose has been waxed and polished.
