Dickens is a special order book reading meerkat
(Suricata suricatta).
He has
been created using Tyber synthetic fabrics with ultrasuede palms and soles of the feet. His filling
consists of polyfill with a bag of plastic pellets in his tummy for added weight, there are additional
rubber pellets in his tail for flexibility. His is fully jointed with a nut and bolt joint in his neck and cotterpin
joints in his arms, legs and wrists. His arms and legs (right to the tips of the paws) are wired for poseability
and he also has a wire armature spine so that he can move his head up or down. His nose and claws are hand sculpted
from polymer clay, they have wire backs to allow for a secure attachment. His high quality glass taxidermy eyes
have been set into specially constructed eye sockets and have waxed cotton cord for lids. His mouth has been constructed
from perle cotton thread and his whiskers are horse hair.
He has been scissor sculpted and his fur markings have been hand shaded
using an airbrush. There is an Arcas Designs tag sewn in under his bottom.
Dickens measures just under 10" from top to bottom.
I handmade his accompanying leather bound book which measures 3" by 2.25" across (when
opened up it measures approximately 4.5" across). It contains 14 blank pages.
