Lyca is an African wild dog,
Lycaon pictus, otherwise known as the Cape hunting dog or painted dog. These distinctive canines are a
native to sub-Saharan Africa and are sadly now classed as endangered animals. Individuals can be recognised by their
unique coat markings.
Lyca has been created using all white Schulte synthetic
fabrics and ultrasuede. He has been stuffed with a combination of bouncifill, plastic pellets in his tummy
(for added weight) and rubber pellets in his tail. He has wire armature in his neck/body/tail and all four
limbs for poseability. His paw pads have been painstakingly individually applied and stuffed. He has beautiful realistic glass taxidermy eyes set into specially constructed sockets with upper
and lower lids applied afterwards. His nose and claws have been sculpted from polymer clay and have wire
backs for secure attachment.
Lyca has been scissor sculpted and extensively hand shaded using an airbrush. He measures approximately 19"
from nose to the base of his tail (the tail is an additional 8.5") and is just under 16.5" in height when
stood (to the tips of his ears). Last but not least he has an Arcas Designs fabric tag sewn in under his tail.
