Toot is a Northern Saw-whet Owl, Aegolius
acadicus. These are one of the smallest species of owls found North America and are quite common but generally
hard to spot due to their small size and colouration. The tooting noise they make apparently sounds like a saw being sharpened
on a whetstone!
Toot has been created using mini bear synthetic fabrics with ultrasuede
talons and has been filled with a combination of polyfill and glass beads in
his tummy (for little added weight). He has a jointed neck and wire armature in his wings and legs (including his
talons) for poseability. He has beautiful realistic glass
taxidermy eyes that have been set into specially constructed sockets, ringed by waxed cotton cord lids. His beak and
claws have been sculpted from polymer clay with wire backs for secure attachment.
Toot's markings have been painstakingly hand shaded using an airbrush and there are machine sewn feather
details on the wings and tail.
Toot measures approximately 6.5" in height, 3.5" wide and 7.5" from head to tail. Last but not least, there
is an Arcas Designs fabric tag sewn in under Toot's tail.
