Maned Wolf

The Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) has often been described as a "Red Fox on stilts" for obvious reasons.  It is much larger than a Red fox though and originates from the grasslands of South America.

My version has been created from Schulte synthetic fabrics with raised ultrasuede paw pads. She has been firmly stuffed with polyfil and a bag of plastic pellets nestles in her tummy for added weight. Additionally her tail has been filled with rubber pellets for flexibility. Her legs are cotterpin and hardboard jointed and have been wired for posing. There is an additional wire spine in her back/neck.

Ms Wolf has beautiful high quality glass taxidermy eyes set into specially constructed eye sockets with cotton cord upper and lower lids. Her nose and claws have been modelled from polymer clay and her mouth has been defined using cotton perle thread.

She has been thread and scissor sculpted and her fur markings have been completely hand shaded using an airbrush. There is an Arcas Designs fabric tag sewn in just under her tail.

She measures approximately 10.5" from the tip of her ears to the base of her paws and 11" from nose to bottom (not including the tail length).

Now on to her photographs...
